(Mary and I tried to get Aidan to put the Russian dolls
on his lapbook, but no success! Mary loved comparing the
mascots from Sochi 2014 to our own Vancouver Olympics, as well drawing them too.
On the left there is a chart on how many medals each country
was awarded, in keeping with her competitive spirit.

Early K studies. Seasons, extreme weather, temperature, empathy, wildlife. Kellen is putting out bird feed for the birds in the cold. It was blowing snow. Here he can learn so much about temperatures and the effect on the fingers and toes! He can also learn to sympathize with the little creatures that have to search a little harder to get a meal. Every year we have a large variety of birds that visit our garden.

Sonlight Science Week 14 created much thought provoking conversation between the children.....see below
Sonlight Science Week 14 created much thought provoking conversation between the children. Apparently, the book "Blood & Guts" that comes with the curriculum suggests,
...that when speaking of the origins of teeth from an assumed evolutionary view.. quote "Until teeth were created, animals were limited to a menu of things that would fit into their mouths." This brought up lively debate between the children apart from myself. They found this quite preposterous and the idea of an animal cramming its food into its mouth to support the supposition of Darwinian Evolution quite a stretch. They were very willing to believe that animals might have been originaly created with teeth from the get go. Fun debate and room for free thought and opinion. We recently watched a live debate between Bill Nye, "the science guy" an Ken Hamm, creationist. http://debatelive.org/
It presented both sides of the science debate.
